Cheers!

We have been privileged to help many couples celebrate their special day over the years with custom created items.  However, as we now have our laser engraving machine, we now have the ability to create personalized champagne glasses for weddings.  We have been working on a few stock designs, but can customize anything to order.  Here are the lovely Mr. and Mrs. champagne flutes:

I love the little hearts in the curls of the M!  Of course, you really can't appreciate them fully without a bit of bubbly to add that festive touch.

We are also offering the traditional Bride & Groom option as well.  And of course we are able to add names and dates to any of these items.

We are also offering the custom engraving in wine glasses as well as beer/pint glasses!

Rainbow Bridge Candle Holder

Now that the Christmas rush is over, we can take some time to work on some new items for our store.  We are very excited to be able to try out some new designs on our laser cutter & engraver.

We started by creating some personalized glass candle holders.  This Christmas, our Rainbow Bridge ornament was extremely popular.  We thought we would like to have a similar item that could be used year-round, instead of just the holiday season.  So we are now offering a Rainbow Bridge candle holder.

We can personalize this with any name and any message.  We will also offer it, as we did with the ornament, with your choice of paw print, cat silhouette or dog breed silhouette in the center.

This particular votive holder is for our dear sweet Mr. Walter Magoo, who was one of our rescue pugs who holds a special place in our hearts.

Personalized Ornaments Now Available

Introducing our new line of personalized custom engraved Christmas ornaments!  Just in time for the holidays, we now offer several lines of unique laser engraved ornaments which can be personalized.

Firstly, we are offering a line of couple's first Christmas ornaments.  There are several designs to choose from, just add the names of the couple and the date.  In case you didn't get one for YOUR first Christmas together, we can back-date them to reflect whatever year your first Christmas was celebrated.

First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in a baby carriage!

Yes, we are also offering a line of Baby's first Christmas ornaments.  Again, there are several nursery themed designs to choose from.  Then add in the baby's name and the year.  Or, give us the birth date and we'll put that there in place of 2014.

And let's not forget the furry kids!  We are also offering ornaments for your dog or cat.  For the cats, choose from a paw print design or a cat silhouette and finish with your kitty's name.

For the dogs, we offer the paw print or the silhouette of the specific dog breed.

Now we can help you celebrate the Christmas season by recognizing that special someone and preserving the memories forever!

Lady Maggie's New Toy

We have some very exciting news to share with everyone!  We have just taken delivery of our newest toy, a laser engraving machine!

We have been wanting to try some new ideas, and have been thinking about adding a laser engraver to our studio for quite some time.  But now we have taken the plunge and ordered a new CO2 laser engraver.  An 80watt laser with a 36x24 inch workspace will allow us to produce not only more intricate Applique items, but it will also open a whole new world of creative avenues for us.

Watch this space in the coming weeks as we start to bring you personalized custom engraved items!

Wedding Day Photos!

We have been honoured to be a small part of people's wedding day many times over the years.  It is quite humbling to have someone trust you to help make their dreams of their big day come true.  A couple of months ago, we received a request from a bride-to-be to help create bow ties for her two Dobermans.  She had just found out that her two dogs were going to be allowed to participate in the ceremony.  She chose the red silk bow tie that we offer for her male dog, but she also wanted something for her female dog.  She contacted me through Etsy to ask about a gold bowtie for her girl.  I emailed her back a selection of fabrics and she chose the gold she wanted.  I then set about designing a special, more feminine, bowtie for her girl.  This is what I came up with:

She was very happy with them and said they would look perfect for her furkids on the special day.

So often, that's the end of the story for us.  Unfortunately, we don't get to see photos of the big day or how our designs looked.  Thankfully, Samantha sent us some photos from her wedding, so we could see how everything turned out.  We're very happy to have played a small part in helping to make her wedding everything she wanted it to be! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your special day.

Here's wishing the happy couple years of happiness together! Congratulations!

Busy Little (Sewing) Bee

There's been loads of activity going on behind the scenes here at Lady Maggie over the past few days.  We have been very busy creating the latest in our Fall 2013 collection of coats.   We will be posting them over the next several days.  In fact, we listed this lovely coat earlier today on our Etsy shop:

This blue plaid tartan print is lined with a lovely golden yellow fleece for chilly autumn walks.  It is accented with a navy blue quilted collar and a fixed coordinating belt.

We are very excited about the new range.  We have some absolutely gorgeous fabrics that we just know you are going to love!  And you will notice that this collection offers a slightly different cut to our coats.  In response to some feedback, we have incorporated a notch in the bottom hem to allow room for a tail without interfering with the line of the jacket.  We are also incorporating the very popular collar and faux belt in these designs.  In addition to creating a striking coat, it also allows us a chance to play around with different buttons on these designs.

Each day forward we will be revealing one of our new designs on Etsy.  We will be posting these on Facebook and Twitter as well.

And remember, these are custom created coats; the listings on Etsy are simply listings for our sample coat - you can order any of these designs in any size you wish.

I hope you enjoy seeing these new items as much as I have enjoyed creating them!

Cheers,

Rebecca

Custom Made - To Order!

Several people have been asking about the sizing of the Lady Maggie coats, so I thought I would take a moment to show everyone just how custom they really are.

Firstly, all the coats are designed by myself.  I create the pattern by hand.  I start by looking for inspiration on (human) fashion blogs and shops.  Once I have an idea of what I'd like to create, I make a quick sketch and then move on to a template pattern.  Once I think it's ready, I cut out some fabric to do a prototype.  I usually do these in either fleece or a lightweight cotton instead of the intended fabric.  Here, Charlie helps me work out some issues with my new fox-hunt inspired coat:

From there, I'll make adjustments and perhaps even redraw the pattern completely.  Then, I move onto a version in the intended fabric.  Here I've made up a range of coats that aren't quite ready for production:

As you can see, they are all different sizes.  Sometimes as I resize patterns I will find that there are tweaks to be made to the pattern when making it smaller or larger.  When all of this is complete and I am happy with the finished product, I will begin production for the Etsy store.

As all of my coats are handmade by my own pattern, I can make them in any size or any fabric.  That means, if someone sees a coat on my Etsy store that is Pug-sized, I can make it for their Yorkie or their Boxer.  If the coat I'm offering is in pink but they want it in black that is no problem at all.  And if they like the coat but want a satin lining instead of fleece, I can easily do that as well.

Etsy is a marketplace for people who make things.  As such, it is a very flexible place for people to place custom orders for items.  If any of my customers want a jacket I offer but want it in a different size or fabric, all they need to do is click the "ask a question" button next to the item on Etsy.  It opens a message box where they can request whatever they want.  I email them back and let them know the details.  Upon their approval, I make the custom order. Then I put a listing on my site specifically for that person.  They then click the "buy" button and we complete the transaction.  This is all usually done within a couple of days.

So please remember when you are browsing our items, anything you see can be made as a custom order for you and your furbaby.  Just let us know what you need!

Cheers!

Rebecca

Welcome to Lady Maggie's Musings

Welcome to the Lady Maggie blog!  We are so excited to be launching our new website and Etsy shop with our new Lady Maggie brand.

For years we have been making bespoke coats, collars and dog beds.  We began back in 2005 but have undergone several changes since then.  As a matter of fact, we started on a completely different continent!  Back in England we created our own design coat specifically for our pugs.  We wanted a coat which was easy to fit and remove.  We also wanted something that would showcase the gorgeous British fabrics that our family was using to create bespoke tailored suits.

After a transatlantic move to Texas, we started making items for a local pug rescue.  We opened an Etsy store under the name deRebecca and sold coats and beds.  We also sold home décor items.

Recently, we relocated from Texas to North Carolina.  We set up our home studio and began to make preparations to re-open our store.  However, we felt that given both our change in location and our shift of product focus it was the perfect time to launch a new brand.  Lady Maggie was born!  We have been given permission by our eldest pug Maggie to utilize her name and image.  In fact, you will probably see and hear quite a bit from Lady Maggie herself on these pages.

We will now offer more dog-related accessories.  We are expanding our range of collars.  We have also began offering new styles of dog beds.  And we have some gorgeous new fabrics with which we will be offering custom dog coats.  But remaining true to our original intention, we will also be offering some home décor items such as accent cushions.  We love the idea of having a gorgeous throw cushion and a dog bed in the same fabric.  Why shouldn't your dog's bed compliment your home décor?

We hope you will check back often, as we have some very exciting items we will be unveiling in the coming weeks.  And please contact us if you have any special requests.  All of our items are custom made, allowing us to fulfill any special needs or desires you might have.

Please take a moment to look around the site, browse our Etsy store and let us know what you think.

Regards,

Rebecca
